SEO

I think everyone is familiar with the concept of SEO or Search Engine Optimisation right? Yet, so many of my clients think SEO is just about getting people to visit your website. In a sense they are right yes, that is the end result. SEO is the process to get your website popularity higher so that search engines will rank your content higher.

How do I get my website more popular?

Getting your website more popular so that it ranks higher in search engines take time and hard work. First, you need great website content. Once the content is in place the next step is onpage SEO followed by domain and page authority building.

What is onpage SEO

Onpage SEO is the process where the various aspects of your website content is optimised so that your website and web pages rank higher in search engines and in turn create relevant leads for your business.

What is domain authority

Domain authority is a metric devised to determine the popularity of a website. Domain authority is measured on a scale from 0 to 100 where 0 is poor domain authority and only the very top websites are ranked at 100. Typically brand new websites will rank 0 whereas super popular sites like Facebook will be at 100. Another metric that comes into play is “page authority”.

What is page authority

Page authority is the metric used on a scale 0 to 100 to determine the popularity of a website page. A web page with 0 page authority has a very low rank, whereas a page with a high page authority score is deemed very popular. Page authority is a very important factor to get various website pages ranked higher in search engines.

How do I increase domain authority

Increasing domain authority is done by getting your website linked to from other high popularity websites. This process occurs naturally if you have great content on your website. As an example, if I write useful content on my website blog, people will share and recommend these useful articles, thereby creating back links to my website.

Sonos Speaker Not Working? WiFi Could Be The Problem

Sonos wifi problem

Sonos wireless speakers are awesome, but only if they are setup properly. Sonos speakers rely on a good solid WiFi connection.  If your Sonos wireless speaker is constantly pausing or stopping playback, WiFi issues are most likely to blame.

Testing Sonos Speaker Connectivity

A good way to determine if your Sonos has a solid WiFi connection to your Wireless router is to do a ping test from the router to the Sonos wireless speaker.

First, we need to determine what your Sonos speaker IP address is,  you can find out what your Sonos speaker IP address is by logging into your router DHCP page. Look for your Sonos device and make a note of the IP address.

Next, navigate to the “Diagnostic” page of your WiFi router. Choose the “ping” option and enter the Sonos wireless speaker IP address.

You should get a low and consistent ping without any packet loss.

Sonos speaker consistent ping

If you do not get a low and consistent ping or see packet loss to your Sonos speaker, it indicates that the WiFi connection is not adequate. This could be caused by improper setup of the wireless router, WiFi interference or poor wireless range.

Improper setup can be remedied by checking setup and making sure that compatible channel bandwidth settings are used.

Adjacent wireless routers can cause interference and in most cases a channel change helps.

Extending The Range Of Your Wireless Network

What if wireless range is my problem? The best option is to hire a wireless technician that can do an onsite WiFi survey of your wireless network to discover where you have WiFi dead spots.

A wireless site survey will give the WiFi technician an idea of signal distribution throughout your property. The site survey results will determine  a course of action.

The answer is simple, if you want your Sonos wireless system to be awesome, you need a strong, jitter free WiFi signal.
